SAAM SMIT Towage Brazil orders newbuildings

Saam Smit Towage Brasil announces that on 24 February 2016 has signed a newbuilding contract with Wilson Sons´ Shipyard in Guarujá - Brazil for the construction of two Damen ASD Tugs 2411, with the option for another four similar newbuildings.

The Damen 2411 is a powerful and compact vessel. With two Caterpillar 3516C TA HD/D diesel engines she will deliver a total output of 4280 kW (70 TBP).

Saam Smit Towage Brasil is currently operating 44 tugboats in 12 ports along the Brazilian coast and is a Joint Venture between BOSKALIS and SAAM. The new tugs will allow SST Brasil to further expand their services in Brasil and continue to service her customers in an increasing number of ports.

The first tug is expected to be delivered from the third quarter of 2017.
